WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?

•In addition to this email you will receive an invoice through QuickBooks for a non-refundable booking deposit of $100. Completion of this payment guarantees your shoot reservation. Failure to do so could result in losing your time slot.

•Each client is required to sign a client agreement for your records. We will be sending you a link to sign the agreement online.

•In the time leading up to your shoot, be sure to drink plenty of water and get plenty of sleep. I promise that you (not to mention casting directors) don’t want a dry, dehydrated actor in hundreds of images. Never hurts to load on the Chap Stick in the days before your shoot either.

•You’re encouraged to create a playlist for your shoot. Music is an essential part of the process. Use the playlist as a way to express yourself, take control of the room, and get yourself in the right headspace for nailing your shots. There’s no playlist too strange…in fact, the more unique the better. (Warning, if you don’t create a playlist you will probably be subjected to a lot of Ariana Grande, Lizzo and showtunes.)

•No matter how many looks you are scheduled for with your package, please bring plenty of clothing options. Like, way more options than you think you need. The best thing to remember is that you want to wear clothes that flatter you, but it’s especially important that you feel comfortable, so don’t overthink it. Additionally, bring layer options (hoodies, jackets, warm pants, etc.) as we may shoot outside for some of your looks. Bring a mix of solid colors and patterns (if you’d like), but please avoid solid red, solid white and any logos. Be careful to avoid thin straps that could read like lingerie in shots and billowy items that hide your shape. We’ve got a steamer at the studio, and will happily finesse all wrinkles away.

•Please communicate with your agents and managers in advance to assess any specific goals you may have for the images.

Take time to think about what you want to convey with these images. The more you know yourself coming into the shoot, the better the results. This can be as simple as coming up with a list of words that describe you; colors that make you feel powerful; or as specific as coming up with a list of bucket-list roles, actors whose careers you emulate and more. Set aside 10 minutes to dream about how these shots will engage the viewer. The more specificity you bring to the shoot, the more you’ll get out of it.

•Remember that we are here to make your shoot as fabulous and successful as possible. I always tell people that the only thing you can do “wrong” is not communicate in the room. If the outfit doesn’t feel right…tell us. If the lip color isn’t you…speak up. We are here to make you look and feel like your absolute best self and for that we need your collaborative powers. .

•The hair and makeup artist will be fully equipped, but feel free to bring any favorite hair and makeup items. Make sure you are consistently exfoliating & moisturizing, including your lips. The day of the shoot, please arrive with your hair clean, dry and prepped with any volume & texture enhancing products that you would normally use before styling. If your hair behaves better when it is day-old-dirty, fabulous. It's best if you arrive with your brows shaped in advance, as tweezing right before the shoot may cause redness and inflammation. Please arrive at the studio makeup-free. The makeup artist will bring all the products we should need, but if you have specific sensitivities to any products or ingredients, please let us know and/or bring your own as back up. For male-identifying clients, bring any razors/shaving cream you may need if shaving mid-shoot.

•Following your shoot, you will receive a private proof site of your images within two weeks. If you would like to guarantee delivery within 48-hours of the shoot, there is an additional fee of $100.

The remainder of your payment is due at the time of the shoot. You are able to pay via Cash, Check (made out to “MurphyMade LLC”) or Credit Cards (with a 3% surcharge).

•If, at any time, you have questions, you can always text us at 646.715.6413. (Text or email totally works as well.)

MISC FAQ

•If you want shots wearing glasses, consider buying a cheaper lookalike pair where we can pop out the lenses, as glare can become an issue.

•Haircuts/hair coloring should be scheduled at least a week in advance to let everything settle.

•Feel free to reference photos on the MurphyMade site if you have specific shots you’d like to emulate.

•We love getting to know new people, but we do keep the studio limited to the client, assistant, and makeup artists. As much as you may think having a friend there will help, we’ve found time and time again that it ends up being a distraction. We promise you’re in good hands. (Of course, for minors parents are always welcome.)
